Fundamental elements of Tokyo through the lens of FDMTL.

FDMTL has upped their game with this video for the Fall/Winter lookbook.

FDMTL has always held a curious position in brands coming out of Japan. More street than Kapital. Less Normcore than OrSlow. And they let the lazy guys skip the whole raw denim breaking in thing. Season after season, year after year, founder Gaku Tsuyoshi and his team drop collections that have us thinking “Shit! I need a boro bomber in my life!”.

This consistency of cool collections has seen them do collaborations with the likes of Vans, New Era, Master-Piece, Poggy, BE@RBRICK, Dickies and most recently, Porsche. All of whom want to get a piece of the distinct and unique visual identity that FDMTL effortlessly delivers.

With their Fall/Winter collection, they step up the game with this cinematic style trailer. Transporting us to the streets of Tokyo they show us the city through the eyes of 15 of the cities inhabitants. The cinematic style of the video perfectly encapsulates the core values of the brand. The blue tones throughout further cement FDMTL dedication to their indigo roots while flashes of bold reds add to the tension and drama of the piece. Hommage is paid to the brand’s roots and vision by offsetting the cityscapes with shots of cloth being hand-dyed in indigo vats and close up shots of traditional Jacquard weaving and embroidery.

You can dive into the details of the collection over on the FDMTL website.
