An Evening with Samurai Jeans & DC4

SAMURAI JEANS x DC4 Party In Berlin

A First For Europe, Samurai Jeans Founder, Nogami-San, comes to party!

Last week saw a special visitor to Berlin, Nogami-San, founder of the renowned Samurai Jeans was in town for the very first Samurai Jeans party to take place in Europe.

Toru Nogami (Nogami-san) founded Samurai in 1997 in the Osaka region of Japan. Riding the wave of raw denim in Japan in the 90s, the company started relatively reserved, producing only 100 pairs of their 501 inspired S510XX fit in a 15 oz denim. Over the years, however, Samurai have become known as one of the finest Japanese denim producers by constant innovation in denim and a pursuit of perfection in crafting their jeans.

Although known all over the globe in denim circles and venerated by Denimheads the world over, Samurai Jeans are not to be found on every corner. Even today there are only a select few stores in Europe and the US who carry Samurai. So it was a real treat to be able to see the jeans, T’s and accessories whilst meeting the man behind such amazing garments.

The party kicked off at the DC4 store in Berlin Mitte. Daniel and his DC4 team had laid on a band, BBQ, beers, bratwurst and some tasty concoctions from the always-awesome Bulleit Bourbon!

Nogami-San took the time to sign the jeans customers brought along to the party and to have a chat with them along the way with a little help from Yoshi in translation.

The evening ended with the biggest game of Rock/Paper/Scissors ever seen, the prizes: Samurai Denim Detergent, T-Shirts and of course, the one everyone wanted, a pair of Samurai Jeans.

Even though Nogami-San is not in town every day, DC4 is a must for all who love denim! Alongside Samurai you will find rare Japanese brands like The Flat Head, Oni, Full Count, Dry Bones, Skull Jeans, Pure Blue Japan and the newcomer from The Flat Head, Hard Bird. Stop by, you won’t be sorry.
